A collection of amazing talks pt. 3

Time for more TED talks.

First up: Minority Report computer interface is real.

Awesome robots.

Talking about vaccinations, flu, and HIV.

These talks actually end up leaving me kinda depressed at the thought of how much more I could be doing with my life.

I haven’t even built ONE robot yet.

So I was wandering around the Internet and came across Rivr, a new social networking site created by these guys.

Now, I’m normally not terribly into social networks, but I am into checking out new start-ups while they are still small and awesome. So, I registered and got an account. It seems petty neat. A bit of a cross between twitter and facebook. Each person has their own page, where they can upload and show their own content. Videos, photos, and music are all covered. There is also a twitter-like update feed for short snippets of news, and blogging software for rants.

You can also create your own groups for whatever subject you’d like, similar to the old groups facebook had before they switched over to “pages”.

The site is pretty, and seems to work quite well. It’s definitely worth checking out if you are a bit tired of facebook and are looking for something fresh. If you join, be sure to subscribe to me!

I also might just be bias because I vaguely know one of the devs. Who knows!

A collection of amazing talks pt. 2

I don’t know if anyone liked my previous post of TED talks, but I hope you did because here are some more.

Chris Jordan pictures some shocking stats

Chris Jordan puts shocking statistics into visual representations.

Rory Sutherland: Life lessons from an ad man

Rory Sutherland talks about perceived value, and other marketing stuff. It’s very interesting, and funny.

Clifford Stoll on … everything

Clifford Stoll talks for a while. I’m not even sure if I can summarize it. All I know is that this man is very interesting to watch and listen to, whatever it is he is trying to say.
